Sorry; the problem is indeed with numbers (even if handling of symetrically
matching pairs could be improved too, eg: "abcd(ABCD)EFGefg" (low=LTR, up=RTL)
will have an ugly "abcd(GFE(DCBAefg" display; while "abcdGFE(DCBA)efg"
would have been better imho)
