Hmmm, seems to work fine for me. At least, if I start up GQView
with LC_ALL=zh_TW.Big5, click in an entry and type:

 <Control>space a 1 <Control>space

The 'sun' character is inserted, which looks plausible. This seems to
indicate that xcin is at least communicating properly with Xlib.
If xcin is malfunctioning at a deeper level, then it's presumably
a problem within xcin, and not something I'm not really qualified
to comment on.

Sorry not to be of more help,
                                        Owen
