First, just a note to endorse the recent appreciative posts about i3. I've been trying out tiling WMs for the last 3 months, especially xmonad and dwm. I liked both but with reservations; I find that i3 gives me pretty much everything I was looking for, so many thanks to the developers. I've discussed it on my blog and it gets quite a few hits.
Just one minor query about the internal status bar. What is the meaning of the figure immediately to the left of the date? It currently reads 0.00 but at times other figures appear, and gradually decline towards zero. I can't see any documentation about this bar anywhere.
