For a World Bank App for education, you could start with the MapStats activity (uses open SVG and JavaScript maps) http://wiki.laptop.org/go/MapStats
I abandoned it awhile ago, but it's a working Sugar activity for statistics. Adding a click/hover event would let you display precise values for each country. Regards, Nick Doiron
