About the Course This Course covers two advance seismic reservoir characterization techniques: AVO (Amplitude variation with offsets) and multicomponent analysis. In AVO topic, the Course’ goal is to allow interpreters of AVO data to avoid the avoidable and beware of the pitfalls that are incumbent with this method. Successes and failures of AVO analysis were studied. Successful AVO examples reveal the potential of this technique in finding new opportunities in a mature area. Multicomponent seismic studies are perhaps today at the same stage that 3-D seismic studies were fifteen years ago. This Course addresses the practical aspects of multicomponent data acquisition, processing and interpretation. The multicomponent attributes such as the Vp/Vs ratio, crack density or fracture orientation, are illustrated in a reservoir characterization context. The Course comprises of approximately 40% theory and 60% workshops.
