PhD Position at the Tectonics and Material Fabrics Section of the Technical 
University Munich:

The Tectonics and Material Fabrics Section (TU München) has an open position 
(BATIIa/2) for a graduate student to research "Equilibrium conditions of grain 
boundaries in crystalline material". The focus of the planned research work - 
building upon polarizing, scanning electron (SEM) and atomic force microscopy 
(AFM) - is to investigate the structure of grain boundaries and the 
grain-boundary behaviour during and after deformation of metamorphic rocks. The 
successful candidate will have a diploma or masters degree in geology or 
mineralogy. The investigations will be carried out within an already 
established research project of the German Research Foundation (DFG) for one 
year and will be continued within a subsequent project for another two to three 
years. The project includes international cooperation with ETH Zürich and St.
