Subject: Seismic Lithology Workshop Newsletter for 57-60th
Editions London:Houston:Perth
For geoscientists deciding where to drill the next well, a systematic
application of stratigraphic inversion and targeted attribute analysis
is essential.
The Seismic Lithology Workshop is an intensive course dedicated to the
identification of lithology from seismic
and well log analysis. The course has been given
to over 600 attendees worldwide over ten years.
Please note there is a discount for advanced bookings.

Workshop Goals
a.. Characterise a reservoir using inversion, attribute analysis and
seismic petrophysics techniques.
b.. Clearly explain the methodology used to achieve reservoir
characterisation.
c.. De-mystify the arts of inversion and attribute analysis.
d.. Consolidate understanding by practical systematic workshop
exercises.

Course Description: -
Course/ Workshop Presenters: - Dr. D Marsden & Dr. G Stein.
The Seismic Lithology Workshop is a two-day course dedicated to the
identification of lithology from seismic, and making particular use of
established techniques:
STRATIGRAPHIC INVERSION: LFC, Sparse Spike and Combined Techniques.
ATTRIBUTE ANALYSIS: Clustering, PC Analysis and Classification.
WELL LOG ANALYSIS: Xplots, TD Corrections, and Genetic Optimization.
What this Course will show you: -
a.. How to prepare data for seismic lithology prediction.
b.. How to identify the pitfalls in your data.
c.. How to extract a stable optimum wavelet.
d.. How to apply trace inversion. (Derive acoustic impedance).
e.. How to derive seismic attributes (40+ Attributes).
f.. How to combine seismic attributes and acoustic impedance into
hydrocarbon indicators using the latest classification methods.
g.. How to create porosity cubes from Seismic and Well data, integrated
using techniques based on genetic optimization.
Practical workshops illustrate the main lecture topics. A modular
structured approach ensures that we impart genuine understanding of
the subject matter and techniques involved. All Workshop modules use a
data set from the same oil field, revealing the effects of each
analysis process as they are incorporated into a complete model of our
test reservoir.
