Eni makes discovery off Indonesia *4/6/2009 12:42:14 PM GMT* [image: Transocean semisumersable Jack Bates] SAMARINDA, INDONESIA: Eni has made a new hydrocarbon discovery offshore Indonesia after drilling an exploration well on the Jangkrik structure in the Muara Bakau block of the Kutei Basin, east of Kalimantan. The Jangkrik discovery, drilled in 400 meters (1,312 ft) of water by Transocean semisubmersible Jack Bates, confirms the high potential of Eni's portfolio in the area. Eni plans to proceed with the appraisal of the Jangkrik discovery and assess the technical and commercial viability of a fast-track development of the new field. In the Kutei Basin, Eni is also participating in the development of significant gas reserves in the Rapak and Ganal blocks. In the nearby Tarakan Basin, Eni has made two other hydrocarbon discoveries, Aster and Tulip, both of which are now in an advanced appraisal phase. In Indonesia, Eni holds overall working interests in 11 permits, and operates six of them. The offshore activities are located in the deep waters of the Tarakan and Kutei Basins and north of Sumatra Island. Other activities are in the Mahakam River Delta, East Kalimantan, where Eni has an equity production of around 20,000 BOE/d.
