He gained his Bachelor’s degree in Geology at Nottingham University UK and his Masters degree in Geology at the IFP in Rueil Malmaison France. He began his career as a mud logger before becoming a pore pressure engineer with Baker. He joined the Total Group in 1978 and spent most of his professional career in operations geology, becoming head of operations geology for the Total group from 2000 to 2007. During this period he published several books and papers on overpressures, notably concerning operational aspects of prediction and evaluation. He is responsible for recruitment, training and career development for geoscientists and reservoir engineers in Total E&P Indonesie since 2007.
