IASC is proud to announce that its past president Professor Stanley P. Azen, will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Engineering and Economics of Innovations by the Department of Economics and Statistics of the University of Salerno. Professor Azen, Division Chair in Preventive Medicine at the University of Southern California, will receive the award in recognition of his many outstanding contributions to biomedicine and computational statistics. Professor Azen is the founding Editor and Editor-in-Chief of the Computational Statistics and Data Analysis (CSDA), the official journal of the IASC.
Founded in the 9th Century, the University of Salerno is one of the oldest medieval Universities and has a medical tradition going back centuries, with one of the earliest and greatest medical schools of the Middle Ages. The honorary degree will be presented to Professor Azen at a reception on Saturday, September 2, 2006, during the 8th Workshop of the ERCIM Working Group on Matrix Computation and Statistics to be held in Salerno, Italy.
