Do ALL of your SqlMap calls follow this pattern:
try {
sqlMap.startTransaction();
//...do work
sqlMap.commitTransaction();
} finally {
sqlMap.endTransaction();
}

According to BEA, there is a connection leak somewhere. Is it possible that
iBatis is not properly closing a connection after obtaining it?
