Right, the perception is IBM has abandoned .edu's and chosen
not to compete for fear of losing a few shekles. They ought to be
sponsoring programming competitions or robot wars or animation
films something to get the juices flowing and the interest rekindled. We had
two CE's build a "dancing car" from a repo'd
drug bust programmable air-shocks, and a couple of industrial strength
PS/2's bolted in the trunk. Even bowed at the end of the performance, toured a
number of grade schools and was big hit and attention getter.

Need a low end machine, a development suite and probably cross platform
testing and debugging aids.
