Could there be sysmods / usermods that were perhaps not copied from the V2.8
system or have not been applied to your z/os system?

Subject: z/OS v1.2 Infoprint Server Arabic printing

Good morning,

We have converted from OS/390 V2.8 Inforprint Server to Z/OS v1.2
Infoprint server. We are printing in Arabic and we are experiencing
problems with the translation of characters which are at the end of the
word.

The incorrect translation appears to be for any character, which have a
different value depending if the character is at the end of the word or in
the middle of the word. In IBM-420 code page, it appears that all
characters which have a Normal and an INITIAL FORM representation, e.g.
X'58' and X'59', that the characters are all translated to the INITIAL
FORM characters.
>From IBM-420 codepage, here are examples of characters which are currently
printed incorrectly
  - X'58' Arabic Letter BEH -
  - X'59' Arabic Letter BEH INITIAL FORM
  - X'AB' Arabic Letter FEH
  - X'AC' Arabic Letter FEH INITIAL FORM
In both of the above instances, if the letter is the last letter of the
word, it must be printed as X'58' or X'AC', but in our z/OS system it
pints respectively as X'59' and X'AC'.

The reports are spooled down to a Spooler from where it gets send to a
XEROX printer.

Infoprint Serve make use of the ICONV command to perform the code page
translation. The document code page specified is IBM-420 and the Printer
code page specified is IBM-864.

Did anyone experience any similar problems ?

Thank you in advance

Jaco Kruger
