We restrict tape processing to backups only. It is technically easy to do, and saves tons of money. If you do the math, you will find that the TCO of tapes is surprising expensive.
A one time JCL conversion to a DASD management plan based on bottom line dollars rather than politics and superstitions should quickly pay for itself and realize substantial savings. While you are at it, fix block sizes and buffers and be amazed how much faster your batch runs. HTH and good luck. -----Original Message----- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Bobby Brake Sent: Monday, August 15, 2005 12:09 PM To: IBM-MAIN@BAMA.UA.EDU Subject: 3590 Strategies without virtual tape?
