I have a question about the management class explanation for GDG's. The
following is the help information:
Use the ROLLED-OFF GDS ACTION field to specify whether the Generation
Data
Sets (GDS) in this management class will expire or migrate after they
have
been removed from the Generation Data Group (GDG).
Possible values:
MIGRATE All rolled-off generation data sets are eligible to migrate
from primary storage the next time daily space management
or
interval migration is run.
EXPIRE All rolled-off generation data sets are eligible to expire
the next time daily space management or interval migration
is run.
For example, if you want the generation data sets to expire after they
have been removed from the Generation Data Group (GDG), specify:
ROLLED-OFF GDS ACTION ===> EXPIRE
I having a hard time understanding this. When a GDG rolls off it
automatically gets deleted. What am I missing?
