John, The ICE141A indicates that there's a record or records in the data set that cannot be properly assembled or discarded even when SPANINC=RC0 is in effect. The possible situations for this are given in "z/OS DFSORT Messages, Codes and Diagnosis Guide" as: * A segment length was greater than the LRECL. * A segment length was less than 4 bytes. * The total length of segments was greater than the LRECL. * Segments are blocked incorrectly for VBS data sets (that is, a first and a last segment are in the same block).
