Doesn't PCOM communicate via TCP/IP? If that's the case, then it's not
going to make a IPL console, since TCP/IP hasn't started yet. It seems
to me that the same would be true of a straight SNA (VTAM) environment.
PCOM ideed communicate via TCP/IP. However on the other end there is *no
z/OS*. PCOMM communicate with 2074 controller. So, TCP/IP replaces coax
cable between terminal and 3174.
TCP/IP communication is active even if z/OS is completely down.
The same apply to OSA-ICC.
