there are several possible questions here - a partitioned dataset (the DB2 name) needs to be expanded. If the dataset is currently less than 4G and is defined to DB2 correctly, DFDSS will create a new copy with primary allocation = to current allocation and secondary allocation unchanged with any version of logical copy. if the existing dataset is less than 4 G and they want to expand it larger than 4 GB, then DFDSS will not change the characteristics of the dataset. it has to be defined to DB2 as extended (actual parm is DSSIZE > 4GB) and the SMS rules have to be setup correctly.
