One of the HSM manuals gives a PATCH command that can be included in ARCCMDxx to alter the interval to a longer interval length, but if you are doing this to reduce HSM CPU and I/O overhead during peak load periods, the interval adjustment method has the disadvantage of starting when HSM is started - and if that varies so does the time-of-day at which Interval Migration will occur. To get around those limitations we went back to the 1 hour default and used automation to turn on INTERVAL MIGRATION just before the specific hour ticks we want it to run, and then turn it back off just before the following hour tick.
