This change from OS2 to Linux was part of z9 and has been propagated to
z10. There’s even a short description of this evolution at Wikepedia
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_System_z9).

There are some considerations for HMC Remote Operations. Try looking at the
following:

Appendix C of the Hardware Management Console Operations Guide (SC28-
6873-00)
https://www-
304.ibm.com/servers/resourcelink/lib03010.nsf/DF559B0D8BE29E5685257481006
03BC2/$File/SC28-6873-00.pdf

or

Remote Operation section of the IBM System z9 Enterprise Class Technical
Guide Redbook (SG24-7124-02)
http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redbooks/pdfs/sg247124.pdf

You should be able to achieve what you need, it’s just a different way of
doing things.

We use the HMC as our console; on the old OS2 systems, PCOMM did an
adequate job of allowing us to see the console when the HMC was remoted.

appear when we remote the HMC console. Is there a configuration setting we
missed or is this simply a feature?
