Few months ago IBM announced enhancement of OSA-Express3 in OSC
(OSA-ICC) mode. It was planned to make second port usable.
Availability date was 1Q2010
Q: How can I recognize whether it is already available on my CPC?
I answer myself, just for the record purposes:
1. Despite on microcode level the support is NOT available. I was told
that new DRIVER level is required (machine is <1 year old)
2. Absolutely NO document mentions what is required microcode level, nor
it informs how to check it.
That includes techdoc mentioned by Richard Peurifoy (THANK YOU Richard!)
and SA23-2266 Open Systems Adapter-Express3 Integrated Console
Controller Dual-Port User’s Guide.
It's not funny if document dedicated to dual-port support of OSC doesn't
mention the prerequisite.
Oh, last but not least: Dual-port support is worthless users attention
IMO. It does not increase number of sessions available, it only adds Eth
port to existing configuration. Similar effect can be achieved using Eth
switch ($10) and even better using router ($200).
