I did find this in SYS1.PARMLIB(IEASYS00):

VIODSN=IGNORE.

And in SYS1.PARMLIB(IKJTSO00) this:

TRANSREC /* ALLOCATE COMMAND DEFAULT */ +
NODESMF((PAL6,PBSB)) /*ALLOCATE COMMAND DEFAULT*/ +
.
.
.
VIO(SYSALLDA) /* */ +

In my IOCDS there's no esoteric of VIO defined. Here's what I have:

/ Esoteric VIO Token State
_ CART9 No ____
_ ECART No ____
_ SILO No ____ No device defined
_ SILO9 No ____ No device defined
_ SYSDA No ____
_ VCART No ____

Hope this helps...

Thanks,
George Rodriguez

Sounds like someone changed the device that the esoteric VIO was
pointing
to in the gen. Since SMS SG seems to allocate to VIO OK, there must be
another valid esoteric name for VIO.
