Yes and no. Choose what you want.
Yes - PCI slot can host any PCI card, including non-IBM ones.
No - MP3000 is hardware+software. The software does not necessarily
support any card you insert, even if we narrow the chocie to replacement
of IBM cards (I mean: exclude Video, scanner, fax/modem and othe types
of cards).
Some analogy: Support Element is built on regular ThinkPad laptop.
However if you want to replace HDD, you *cannot* swap the disk with any
compatible one! Or, yes, you can - if you want to install your own OS,
but not IBM's code.
