>And, IBM removed suspend/resume logic from ASM's channel programs in APAR OA14248 back in 2006.
I thought so, but I couldn't remember the details. Also, with PAV, large cache, fast DASD, fast channels, and all their friends, lots of what we used to do is no longer valid. When I started, we were paging to a dedicated string (channels, cu, etc), of 8 3330's, and doing the 1-CYL PLPA trick. I remember, when we were converting from 3330's to 3350's, and again to 3380's, the capacity people were concerned about the waste of the disk real estate because of dedicating those 'huge' disk volumes to paging. Then, extended swap IUP came along, making us tie up more 'expensive' DASD. - Too busy driving to stop for gas! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@bama.ua.edu with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
