As the author of the article, I'll note that: - It is indeed z/VM only. z/OS was never mentioned.
- Perhaps the old "z/VOS" name confused folks, was read as "z/OS". Not the same. - The name is now "z86VM" anyway. Because accessing the other z10 resources is hard to synchronize with an alien processor design? But stay tuned, there's stuff along those lines coming (this isn't a secret, just the details are). FS is long dead, but I assume you mean IBM i (aka System i, aka iSeries, aka AS/400, aka "What on EARTH were they thinking with that latest name change?"), its bastard offspring. Sounds like you know that historically, the other hardware divisions have laid claim to territory based on customer size. One of the stated reasons for the rebranding as eServer in 2000 was to reduce/eliminate this foolishness - the customer who's in the market for a box yea big isn't thinking "Gee, which IBM hardware flavor should I buy?": they're thinking "What flavor of box best fits my needs?". So whether it's a small z or a large x86 or a hybrid, IBM should offer it. Which doesn't mean the i folks wouldn't be unhappy anyway .! .phsiii ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@bama.ua.edu with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
