Very good question. They probably haven't done *anything* for this, because
I haven't really reported it. So far I have only griped about it here on
ibmmain.
-
Only griped about it mostly because usually IBM first is going to tell me all
the
crap like 'if they're non-sms it will work for sms managed data sets' and
whatever else they can come up with to pretend that there isn't a problem.
They *were* non-sms until a short while ago. Making them SMS-managed
didn't help.

I hate being told that something is broken as designed, and no, IBM is not
going to do something about it. Which is the way a lot of my ETRs go. Until I
lean really heavily on IBM and escalate. Sometimes *that* gets something
really bad fixed. But it takes a lot of effort and time on my part, including
proving to IBM that their conclusions are wrong, and I am tired of IBM
support's bullheaded stubbornness. They have worn me down. Mostly.
-
And since it will probably take tons of docs that IBM is going to say they need
(to "prove" to me that I have a faulty environment) which will take tons of
time to produce (that I don't have), I haven't opened an ETR yet. I am really
tired of jumping through hoops just because IBM asks for needless docs
instead of reproducing the problem themselves. Or of putting someone on it
who *understands* z/OS. And no, you US Americans are a lot better off with
the support you get than the rest of the world is. (For PDSE, though, the
EMEA level2 support is pretty decent - I know the guy, he has also helped
writing the PDSE redbook.)
-
Guess that was another rant, right?
In any case, my little program only helps for the first 15 minutes, then it
doesn't anymore until the next open/close. I *think* a few years back (before
BUFFER_BEYOND_CLOSE) the program helped 24 hours a day. But that was so
long ago, that it has become blurry.
-
Best regards, Barbara
who one of these weeks *will* report it one way or another to IBM, I just
need the time!
