Not sure if this is a side effect of your (version) root file system
being somewhat corrupted, I mean some of the file in there have
had their ownership changed to your default userid. Who knows
what else has been changed?

I wonder why "TSO OMVS" should involve "daemon processing". 
"Daemon processing" indicates that some uid=0 process is trying
change to another userid without having authenticated the user
(i.e. prompting for password). That should not happen as
part of "TSO OMVS".

Can you please verify that /bin/login is marked setuid and
owned by uid=0?
