Mike, Even if you could run Linux under z/OS, would that really be cost effective?
You could use the free Co:Z Launcher to run Linux stuff from z/OS: http://dovetail.com/docs/coz/cookbook.html#4_1 You can have a started task that runs the Linux shell remotely on another box. The script/programs running on the Linux box can cooperatively access datasets and DD's in the launching started task. BTW: If you get a z196 with zBX and x blades, you could run the Linux app there.
