I can't remember where I saw this but they are abbreviations for:-
NTV New Test Vehicle
FTV Fibre Test Vehicle
STV Spanned Test vehicle
I am presuming from the names that they are used during hw testing
during zseries development.
Have a look at IOSDPATH or CBDZHCEX in 1.7 Data areas for some lists
