I see this in the data areas manual:

116     (74)    BITSTRING        1    CVTDCB       - OPERATING SYSTEM
                                                       FOR S/370-XA MODE
                                                       EXECUTION, CVTMVSE,
                                                       CVT4MS1, CVTOSEXT,
                                                       CVT6DAT, AND CVTMVS2
                                                       ARE SET ON AT CVT
                                                       CREATION

Those bits would be X'9B'
