All subsequent allocations on the same volume or a new volume are made with secondary amount. The additional amount value in the data class only applies to extended vsam datasets. I never set this to secondary because it would not apply to all vsam datasets. I did not want one set of rules for extended vsam datasets and another for the original type(s) of vsam datasets.
