The next meeting of the NY Metro NaSPA Chapter will be on Tuesday, 22 
March  in room 1219 at the IBM Building at 590 Madison Avenue, New York 
City, from 10:00 AM until 4:30 PM. We have a full-day of great sessions 
focusing on the new z196 and the latest z/OS releases including: 

"zManager", Jeff Frey, IBM Fellow,  IBM Corporation

Few announcements have created the buzz that last year's z196 and zBX 
announcement.  These  ?System of Systems? integrate  IBM?s leading 
technologies to dramatically improve productivity of today?s 
multi-architecture data center, creating  the world?s fastest and most 
scalable enterprise system with unrivalled reliability, security, and 
manageability. Key to this announcement is  the Unified Resource Manager, 
zManager. In this session, IBM Fellow and zManager architect describes the 
zManager.


"An Introduction to z/OSMF", Anuja Deedwaniya, Senior Technical Staff 
Member, z/OS System Design 

The IBM z/OS Management Facility (z/OSMF) provides a web-based graphical 
interface for system programmers on z/OS. z/OSMF will make the day to day 
operations and administration of the mainframe z/OS systems easier to 
manage for both new and experienced system programmers. This session will 
provide an overview of the IBM z/OS Management Facility. In this session, 
Anuja describes the functions, features and focus areas for the latest 
release and provides  the potential benefits for the system programmer and 
a glimpse of what is coming next.  This session is useful to systems 
programmers and their managers who will be using (or are considering 
using) the z/OS Management Facility.

 "BCPii for Dummies", Steve Warren, Senior Software Engineer, IBM 
Corporation

This session goes thru a complete BCPii setup, including step by step 
installation and configuration instructions, including configuration of 
the support element, security definitions and BCPii address space. Real 
coding examples will also be given. Included in the presentation will be a 
quick BCPii update for z/OS 1.12.
 

 "GRS: Scalability,Performance and CPU Utilization", Bryan Childs, Senior 
Software Engineer, GRS Design and Development, IBM Poughkeepsie

GRS is a key component of the z/OS environment.  This session discusses 
enhancements to both ENQ and latch processing over the past several years 
and will include practical tips in managing the GRS Complex.



Pre-registration is requested and recommended as it simplifies getting 
into the building and helps us get the room set up correctly.  Please RSVP
