It depends. In fact EXT-PS is much older than LARGE. IMHO LARGE is
mainly for system datasets, which are accessed at very low-level - like
JES2 spool. LARGE did not address any limitation for applications,
because it was already done by EXT-PS.
Q3:Ours shop is z/OS 1.11, Every PS should now benefits from EF,Could I
assign every PS to use EF including small and large PS?
For applications - yes, you can. Do you need? Well, I like 123 extents,
I like compression. Both are useful even for small datasets.
Q4 Is there any disadvantage for EF?
1. SMS requirement. 2. Some "low-level" programs do not accept EXT-PS.
Example: DFSMSdss dump dataset cannot be EXT-PS.
