thanks for everyone's responses. i don't know a single detail about it at all. this company had taken on (or better taken over) quite a few datacenters around, so I presume they know what they are doing. I am not involved in any of it. I only get involved _after_ it is all done, trying to tie up loose ends. Testing, etc.

Been through a bunch of them, all the success ones IMHO , were planned to the nth degree. Everything from Communications(Network), Operating System , Applications, like someone said similar to a DR test, but in an outsourcing case, permanent. The key to me is to lay everything out as a plan on paper and brainstorm it , usually you can spot the potential problems pretty easy. New lines and network definitions may have to be installed for SNA and IP addresses changed for web applications. Similar to doing a DR test at remote sites. -----Original Message----- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:IBM-MAIN@bama.ua.edu] On Behalf Of Donnelly, John P Sent: Friday, May 20, 2011 1:13 PM To: IBM-MAIN@bama.ua.edu Subject: Re: Moving to an outsourcing datacenter Simple answer; disk and tape(storage) replication for all operating platforms. -----Original Message----- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:IBM-MAIN@bama.ua.edu] On Behalf Of Lindy Mayfield Sent: Friday, May 20, 2011 9:44 AM To: IBM-MAIN@bama.ua.edu Subject: Moving to an outsourcing datacenter When a company decides to move their datacenter to the datacenter of an outsourcing company, how do they do it?
