Thanks for the responses - its an interesting debate given what actually happens VS some peoples interpretations
Just to be clear - I don't disagree that SCRT has always reported data by machine and as such charging has been the aggregation of the machine 4HRA peaks per product per machine. I also agree with Al regarding some of the wording. That said I would suggest its not as clear cut as might be presented. I can't find an online IBM reference for the "IBM Customer Agreement - Attachment for Workload License Charges (Pre-ILM)" and I won't quote from ours as I'm not sure of the legality of doing so - however if you can find your copy you might want to read some of the definitions and the sections on charging. Particularly the definition of "Product LPAR Utilisation Capacity" and Charges section on what VWLC monthly charges are based on. I'd suggest theres a lack of clarity (or even a contradiction). To me its not clear cut as the definition of Product LPAR Utilisation Capacity refers to the highest utilization in all LPARs where a product runs concurrently. No mention of CEC or by machine anywhere in the definition. Very interesting that no-one from IBM has commented either way. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
