However, we have caveats for lots of commands. V XCF,OFFLINE, Rebuildling Linklst. I see the SYMUPDTE no different than those. If you use it and it breaks something - be more careful. That is what vendors always tell us. You can clean up fragmented CSA with Monitor tools. However, if the address is not really free, you could IPL. So why is SYMUPDTE any different than those situations. I thought IBM's direction is to limit the number of things we have to IPL for. It looks like the SYMUPDTE could be one of those functions whose time has come to be fully documented and supported.
