Can EXCP(VR) read offline volumes now?

I haven't read up on any of the changes to EXCP for quite some time.
I once (25 years ago) had a tool that used STARTIO to read the label of an offline volume. It would read the VOL1 label then issue a WTOR indicating the volser of the offline volume.
(I just found the code and the date on it is "APR 5,1988").

Our DASD management group used it to verify that the volume they wanted to initialize was in fact the correct one (this was before ICKDSF VERIFY).

If anyone wants this ANCIENT code I still have a copy...just email me and I'll forward you a copy. No guarantees as I doubt it will still work.

Going to STARTIO is really going out in the deep end. You are responsible for everything. If you tell it to erase the system IPL pack, it will do it, but it will let you do very efficient I/O if you know what you are doing.

There is the 25 cent tour of STARTIO. If you have other questions, please be as specific as you can and I or someone else on this list will try to get you the answers you want.
