I believe that in KY such a court case was brought to the state Supreme Court and any such laws were ruled invalid and unenforcable

In states such as Colorado which have a constitutional limit on the length of the legislative session, it's fairly common for the Speaker to order the Sergeant at Arms to stop the clock one minute before midnight in order to continue with urgent legislation. I likewise wonder what a defense lawyer would do with knowledge that a client was being prosecuted under a law passed in that Twilight Zone.
