To the watching readers,

I do like to see posts where the solution to a problem is confirmed -
especially if I provided the solution <g>.

Bela contacted me privately to say that the character which VTAM needs to
see in the LUSEED operand value in order to perform substitutions with a
decimal or hexadecimal representation of the LOCADDR value is, using her
code page, the "pound sign". So what changed you may ask. Well, it's not
what Americans call the "pound sign" but what we Brits call the "pound
sign" - ha - "hoist with my own petard" - for reasons too complicated to go
into here, my keyboard doesn't have a pound sign on it. However I can copy
it from Bela's post below and here it is: "£".

Bela,

To respond to this post:

The idea behind pointing you to the IBM3737 entry in ISTINCLM was to show
you how to work out what character you needed in the LUSEED operand - and it
seems that worked. In my VTAM (strictly CS SNA) Messages manual I find
APPNCOS=#INTER.

I hadn't intended a second question. I was merely pointing out that there
*appeared* to be nothing wrong with your LUSEED operand value but - as we
say in English - appearances can be deceptive.

I hope the notes on how to use the ISTEXCSD exit I sent you provide you with
all the answers you need.

Chris Mason
