It depends on your definition of "supported" - I had a job that used BSAM to manipulate blocks larger than 32K (disk and tape). If you have an even number of buffers, it's quite easy to overlay the relevant BSAM control blocks and CCWs with larger sizes. QSAM might be a bit harder. These days it's easier to use EXCP, since much of the detailed error handling can be avoided.
