I made the assumption that CCF meant the 4764 or whatever it was back
then. Yeah, if that's not turned on, it definitely sounds like you'd be
crippled by lack of non-exportable algorithms. Thanks for clarifying!
Main difference: CPACF does not support secure key operations.
So, for clear key operations CPACF is similar to CCF, but for secure key
operations CCF is similar to ...nothing. Crypto cards (PCICC, PCIXCC,
CE2X, CEX3) provide support for secure key, but their performance is
different. Different means usually worse, but it's not so simple,
because the performance depends on block size, algorithm used, # of
concurrent jobs, etc. etc.
