If you are running a z9 or higher (i.e., z10, z196 or z114), then you will be fine. If you are running a processor prior to a z9 (i.e., z800/z900, z890/z990) then you need a new processor if you want to run 2.1. Of course, with the extended support periods there is certainly need to rush into this.
