Looked interesting.

Very odd indeed. newhasp.com is a newly registered domain (as of Sep. 2005) with a '.com' suffix. For the most-part, the public site is not all that useful -- consisting primarily of links to information already easily accessed from IBM's web sites. However, it also has copies of a few PDFs that were presented to ISVs (pre-GA) in recent years (only ISVs and IBM employees would have had access to these confidential presentations) and some old WSC Orange Books that, while no longer in print, remain IBM copyrighted material. The site has a password protected area for which some sort of registration is required. I chose not to register.

The orange-colored backgrounds and the unmistakable use of the SHARE JES2 project "hasp" logo give the appearance of linkage with the SHARE organization, but there is none. (I wonder if that might be construed by SHARE as copyright infringement?) SHARE has it's own web site for use by SHARE projects, including JES2. For that matter, IBM has numerous excellent web sites as well, so it's hard to imagine who's really behind this.

Who would go to the trouble to set up and pay for this kind of web site? Some kind of JES2 fanatic? Whoever they are, the site authors have remained intentionally anonymous. For their sake, I hope they have IBM's permission to distribute the material they've posted...
