Ron, I also did the same as John has MVS at that time under VM , with no issues. The Sungard people were great, so if you have gaps in understanding or knowledge they help out in a DR situation. Almost all of the DR problems I have seen, done a ton of tests, turned out to be poor planning and execution. I am of the mindset always, 'plan the work and work the plan'...
