IRD does have it's merits, a parallel sysplex will likely consist of multiple LPARs which span multiple CPC. IRD will help the LPARs on the same CPC (AND are also in the same sysplex)
An example where this can be useful is if say within that sysplex, some LPAR are CMC support network related workloads, while others LPARs (within the same CPC and sysplex) support CICS workloads. Because of the different workload, and the fact workload normally have an affinity (ie. work started on one LPAR must finish there) IRD is useful in that it will be able to move resource around where needed. AFAIK DCM only works with ESCON channel and switches (so only ESCON and FICON bridge/converter) Regards, Yi Ming ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
