Hi Mark, You and everyone else would find it useful to have Gilbert's excellent XDELETE REXX exec handy.
The XDELETE command scans the catalog for data set names that match a filter (such as USERID.*.C%K*.**) then issues a DELETE command for each disk data set or a DELETE NOSCRATCH for each tape data set. You will find it in file 183 on the CBT MVS Utilities collection here http://www.cbttape.org/ftp/cbt/CBT183.zip http://www.cbttape.org or at his Home Page here http://mywebpages.comcast.net/gsf/tools/ XDELETE uses the IBM Catalog Search Interface (CSI) to let you delete many data sets easily using masks and to preview the results before actually doing it by omitting a confirmation keyword. I use it in both TSO foreground and batch. Say I want to remove a user from my systems and I want to delete all of his/her datasets. Is there a way to do that in a JCL or REXX rather than manually? example joesmith.** Mark D Pace Senior Systems Engineer Mainline Information Systems 1700 Summit Lake Drive Tallahassee, FL. 32317 Office: 850.219.5184 Fax: 888.221.9862 http://www.mainline.com ==================== This email/fax message is for the sole use of the intended recipient(s) and may contain confidential and privileged information.
