Actually, the new BrightStor Tape Encryption product gives you the ability to encrypt as desired. There is a CA-Disk version that will encrypt all backup tapes created by CA-Disk and there is a version that will allow you to encrypt all tape files regardless of the creating program. No need to change from existing tape media if you don't want to; your choice.
