Mike, The synchronisation problem you mention is not one that you should see when running DFSMSrmm with IBM ATL/VTS. With IBM system managed libraries it is the host system which tells the library when to switch the status of a tape, and not the 'mount scratch'. This ensures that there is a much better chance of the system and the library agreeing on the status. As far as RMM is concerned, we only update the status of the volume in RMM when the status change is made to the library, so keeping RMM in synch with TCDB and library. In the early days of RMM and ATL it was not quite the same, but the window was small. Now you should no longer see problems. Using EDGUTIL with PARM='MEND(SMSTAPE)' gives a simple and effective way to correct discrepancies.
