(cross posted on IBM-MAIN and LPAR-PRICING-L)

I've completed a quick review of SCRT Version 12.1 and the changes are much what I expected. The new z9BC is supported and some additional products are now supported.

The most frequent request I hear from SCRT users is a capability to indicate what month should be reported. This is finally available via a new Report_Period= parameter in the PARMS DD statement. The LAST_MONTH value will allow many sites to set this as default.

Surprisingly the new z9EC and z9BC machines are barely included in the documentation. EWLC is the only pricing metric available for a z9BC standalone machine. The SCRT Version 12.1 User Guide on page 4 includes: "Subcapacity EWLC pricing applies only to z800 and z890 CPCs where z/OS and z/OS.e are the only MVS-based operating systems running." This is misleading to any IBM site considering the z9BC machines. Adding to the confusion the EWLC web page http://ibm.com/zseries/swprice/ewlc.html has not been updated since 2004-06-21 (based on the META tag) and is not accurate on this topic either.

Very best regards,

Al
