Thank you to Jay, Ken and John who have responded. John, I was enquiring regarding the logical virtual scratch volumes that I was hoping to reduce so that I could free some stacked volumes. Is what you have indicated below is what I was enquiring? If it is, I will get on with it straight away!

Use your tape management system to find some VTS volumes which are in scratch status. You'll need to determine how many you need to "free up". Once you have a list of the volsers, enter the z/OS command: LI EJECT,xxxxxx Where "xxxxxx" is replaced by the volser you want to "eject". In a VTS, this removes the volume from the VTS's inventory and frees the space that it is taking on the backstore (stack) volume. -- John McKown Senior Systems Programmer HealthMarkets Keeping the Promise of Affordable Coverage Administrative Services Group Information Technology This message (including any attachments) contains confidential information intended for a specific individual and purpose, and its content is protected by law.
